JANEZ GRAŠIČ

Janez remains passionate about sustainability for three decades. His interpretations of philosophy behind, system’s approach, and communication gives another boost to working mindset.

Janez gained first working experiences as an independant farmer, innovator (e.g. printing on artificial leather – Planika, Adidas) and sales representative in high commerce with Commerce d.d. Ljubljana. When the war between ex Yugoslav republics ruined common market, he migrated for work in agricultural and construction sector to Italy, and later to UK. There he started to study industrial design, from where his passion for knowledge shifted his interests and thus studies into environment, development, innovations and systems approach studies. He studied also environmental policy and practice in an international context. He was awarded with Bachelor of Science with Honours and advanced diploma in Environment and Development. He worked in tourism sector in Bled, selling hotels, villas, guiding guests, organising events… Since 1996 Janez stays fully employed as a law enforcement officer (ranger), guider and interpret with the Triglav National Park, where he also represents workers union.  However, Janez gladly works on some interesting projects outside the public institution of the national park.

He is a state professional administrative officer, green mediator, tourist and mountaineering guide. He educated few generations of local guides for UNESCO’s biosphere area Julian Alps, he worked on special programmes with volounteers and as an educator for children, students and professionals.

Janez remains passionate about Sustainability, so he gave many lectures on sustainability issues, including sustainability business models and communication. He worked on many international and local projects as a lecturer and councelor, e.g.: INTERREG EU NIGHT LIGHT, Avila Spain; Samso Denmark; CAPABAL final conference – guider and interpret for sustainable management of protected areas; UNESCO Man and Biosphere Julian Alps – communicatior and moderator in inclusion process of schools in Biosphere Community;

AlpFoodway conference Milan – nature conservation and sustainability expert, speaker;

Sustainable Business Modeling, Social and Green Entrepreneurship LASPDL, for International School for Social and Business studies Celje; Interpret or lecturer for representatives of Snowdonia National Park – Wales, Crater; Lake NP – Oregon and US Embassy, NP from China, NP from Russia; lectures and guided tours for CEOs of Slovenian police; tutoring guiders for Julian Alps and mountain guiders; co-mentoring students from Napoli University on Masters in Environmental Management; collaboration with film makers (Bavarian TV, BBC, Red Bull production, etc.); counselling on sustainable business models for ideas of social entrepreneurs (FERFL); World Conference on Sustainable Development in Lake Land Areas, Bled – leading guide, interpret and moderator on Sustainability in Bohinj and Triglav National Park; counselling and writing of different projects: e.g. Diversity in Human Resources Management in Slovenia, Romania and Croatia; counsellor, networking agent, supervisor on funding small projects for NGOs (SSK Bohinj zip-line to fly with skies over the oldest ski jump in Slovenia), Impact Tourism products, Green Entrepreneurship, etc.
